Welcome to my cat page! Over the course of this year, you will hear a lot about my cats. I have no human children, so I have fuzzy ones instead. This page just gives a little overview of the critters that live with me and my wife.
Murray
Murray was born in 2010. We didn't get him until 2011, though. He was a rescue cat and he spent all of his first year in small cages while he waited for a home. When we got him, he was sad. His life had been pretty unhappy. Once we got him home, wow! What a change! I think he ran for 3 days straight. In the past, he used to fetch things little milk bottle rings and little balls of paper. Recently, though, he's been more into sleeping! He also LOVES Mrs. Fejes! He comes when she calls him and he flops down on top of her, falling asleep in moments. He's a really awesome pet.
Olive
Olive (or Ollie) was born in 2014 or 15...we are not sure since she came to us through a friend. When Olive joined our crew, we weren't sure how the other cats were going to feel about her. Luckily, she blended in right away. She got along with Murray within hours and those two play with one another really often. It's big time wrestling. They put each other in headlocks and toss each other around. Olive is crazy. Her eyes are always wide open, like she is totally startled. She runs around the house by herself, galloping from one room to another like her tail was on fire. She is pretty hilarious. :-)
Ivy
We got Ivy in spring of 2019 after we lost two other cats. Our house seemed so empty that we needed to fill it up again, so we went to the local cat shelter and found this little girl! When we went to the shelter, a really cool place called Destination Cats where you can mingle with all of the cats, Ivy, then known as Janet, sauntered right over to me, meowed at me to "sit down!", and then jumped into my lap. She was so cute that we had to adopt her. Since she's been in our home, she has really warmed up to us. She is very talkative, too. She'll look you right in the face and say, "Meow." But she stares at you like you should know what that means! I just pet her. It's worked out well so far. ;-) Oh, and once she got to our house she started eating a LOT and has not stopped! She gained two pounds in a month. That's a lot for a little cat her size. The vet weighed her twice, thinking that she'd made a mistake the first time!
Geddy Lee
I know it seems like a weird name, Geddy Lee, but it's a tribute to one of my favorite musicians, Geddy Lee, the bass player for the band Rush. How we got Ged is a funny story. We went to Destination Cats to pick up Ivy, and when we got there, Geddy was sprinting around in the common room. He had arrived that same day and had only been there a few hours when we found him. He was so pretty that Mrs. Fejes noticed him right away. She said, "Look at that guy!" We didn't get him that day, but we really wanted him and decided it was better to get two cats at once (since we still wanted four) rather than get a third, break that one in, and then upset the apple cart AGAIN by going through the process a second time. So we went back the very next day and got him, too! Geddy's main nickname is "Monkey" because he is a lunatic and he jumps around like a crazy monkey. He is really thin and he has a ton of energy. Geddy and his sister Ivy wrestle a lot. Until Ivy put on a few pounds, Geddy had the upper hand. Now she gives Geddy all he can handle! One of my favorite traits that Geddy displays is that he loves to fetch! He'll chase ANYTHING and bring it back! One of his favorite fetching toys? My socks! Yeah, you read that right. If I throw a sock, he will run after it, clutch it in his jaws, and bring it back, dragging it behind him the way a lion would drag a kill back to its pride. It's SO FUNNY. He also brings me his shoelaces when he wants to play. He'll drag it right into my lap and I throw it for him. It's great fun!
